Bayley Produce is a family-owned business that has been growing some of New Zealand’s favourite fruit and vegetables for over 30 years in the sunny Hawke’s Bay. We take pride in the care and attention we put into everything we grow.

HERITAGE

Our story

From humble beginnings on sheep and beef farms in Te Karaka and Crownthorpe, Kevin and Karen Bayley’s passion for the land grew into what is now Bayley Produce. In his 20’s, Kevin spotted an opportunity selling fruit to holidaymakers in Taupō, armed only with a Holden HQ ute, a trailer, Karens support and a big dose of determination.

What started as one roadside stall quickly grew to three, and by 1990 Kevin and Karen purchased their first orchard in Twyford. Over 30 years and 3 grown children later, Bayley Produce is still proudly family-owned. We grow, harvest, and pack our own produce to ensure only the highest quality produce reaches kiwi households.

At Bayley Produce, we’re more than just growers, we’re a family of passionate people who care about what we do. From the orchard crew to the packhouse team and office staff, everyone plays a vital role in bringing fresh, top-quality produce to Kiwi households.

FOOD & HEALTH SAFETY & SUSTAINABILITY

  • At Bayley Produce, we take food safety seriously. Every product is tracked from harvest to market using a GS1 traceability system, with procedures in place for recalls if needed. All plant protection products are registered for safe use in New Zealand, and crop protection against pests and disease is actively managed to industry standards. Spray applications are recorded and audited, giving you confidence in every piece of produce we deliver.

  • We invest heavily in the long-term health of our soil, focusing on soil biology to rejuvenate and enrich our orchards and cropping land. From planting through to harvest, we take a responsible, sustainable approach that protects our land, supports healthier crops, and ensures every piece of produce is grown with integrity.

  • The safety of our employees and visitors is a top priority. Hazards are identified and controlled, staff are trained and supervised, and emergency procedures are in place. Regular inspections and reporting help us maintain a safe, healthy workplace, ensuring everyone leaves the site safely.
